Lickety Split – Counter-Strike 2 Workshop Weapon Skin
Designed, Illustrated, and Textured by Daniel Luke Ross
This personal project involved designing and creating a custom weapon skin for Counter-Strike 2, taking it from the initial illustration through to the final 3D asset. The workflow utilised industry-standard software including Photoshop, Blender, and Substance Painter.
The completed skin, Lickety Split, is available on the Counter-Strike 2 Workshop page on Steam.
Drawing Timelapse:
Lickety Split was inspired by urban graffiti in abandoned industrial developments; bringing life and character to concrete and steel.
This project was a significant learning journey, spanning several months of developing and refining my skills. Although I was already familiar with Photoshop and had some basic experience with Blender, I was a beginner when it came to 3D software.
An important aspect of the project was also the marketing challenge. When you upload a skin to the Counter-Strike 2 Workshop, it competes with over sixty thousand others, making it easy to get lost in the crowd. Standing out requires a strong, timely marketing strategy to gain visibility.
With the wealth of online resources and tutorials, I successfully completed the project by the end of March. While Lickety Split is not currently accepted into the game—and may never be—it remains a proud accomplishment that showcases my dedication and growth in both creative and promotional skills.
