A Short Walk (Short Film)

Created during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and strict UK lockdowns, A Short Walk was my first film project. With university courses fully remote and no access to professional equipment, I was encouraged to shoot outdoors within my local area.

Fortunately, the Scottish Government’s broad definition of “local” included the entire expanse of Aberdeenshire. I used this as an opportunity to base the film around a hike up the stunning Lochnagar.

Working with minimal resources, I embraced a handheld cinematographic style that complemented both the story and the conditions. This approach helped convey the emotional weight of the protagonist’s journey.
